Central Motor Vehicles (Acts / Rules)

We believe that one of the most corrupt government body is the Regional Transport Office (RTO). I recently visited my nearest RTO for Renewal of RC and Transfer of Ownership. Once when I inquired a broker for this, he told it would cost Rs. 5000 as it would involve bribing the officials concerned. I was not ready to spend this amount as I felt it very huge. Later, I decided to go directly to RTO and know what is happening but its just few days back I got time to visit the RTO. When I entered, I didn't know whom to consult and all. I asked for inquiry and I was directed to an official concerend, though he was not friendly enough, did give me directions that what is to be done. Now, I did complete all the formalities without any bribe and it cost me just Rs. 1260. Meanwhile I searched on internet for fees structure and I got a 489 page rule book, The Central Motor Vehicles Rules,1989. This eBook contained all that details necessary for any kind of service you nee along with fees for every service. I have heard from many that they have spent thousands through brokers for services that would cost less than few hundreds. Soo I just wanted to share this rule book with you. Click to download.
